Iran refuses to suspend uranium enrichment to 20% before lifting sanctions

Iranian officials have said that they will not stop enriching uranium to 20 percent until the United States lifts all sanctions.
According to the British news agency Reuters, Iran’s state TV made the statement on Tuesday following a US media report quoting an unnamed official who said Washington could make a new offer to start talks.

The Biden administration is seeking talks with Iran to restart the 2015 nuclear deal. The deal lifted economic sanctions on Tehran in return for halting its nuclear program to make it harder for it to build a nuclear weapon, which is Iran’s dream.

The Iranian official added that “if the United States does not lift all sanctions, Tehran will begin to backtrack on its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal.”
